Who can use an individual membership?
Individual memberships are for one user and can be used by teachers, tutors, home educators or families. Simply choose the year-group phase that suits you.
How many teachers can use a school membership?
A school membership covers teachers at one school site within the phases included in your plan. Infant School covers EYFS and Years 1–2, Junior School covers Years 3–4 and Years 5–6, and Whole School covers all four phases.
Which year groups are included?
Choose from EYFS, Years 1–2, Years 3–4 or Years 5–6. Individual memberships include one phase. Infant School memberships include EYFS and Years 1–2; Junior School memberships include Years 3–4 and Years 5–6; Whole School memberships include all four.
What do I get with my membership?
You’ll receive five ready-to-use Sparks each week, plus access to the Spark Generator and the Sparkive for the phases included in your membership.
What is the Spark Generator?
The Spark Generator lets you create your own bespoke discussion Sparks. Choose the year group and subject, enter what you'd like your pupils to discuss, and Oracy Spark creates a ready-to-use prompt with age-appropriate sentence starters.
What is the Sparkive?
The Sparkive is your growing library of previous Sparks. Members can browse and revisit Sparks for the phases included in their membership whenever they need an extra discussion idea.
How do I receive my weekly Sparks?
Your five weekly Sparks are delivered as a PowerPoint straight to your inbox, ready for the following week. Members can also log in to the Spark Hub to access the Spark Generator and Sparkive.
Do I need PowerPoint installed?
No. You can open the file in a compatible presentation app, such as Google Slides. We recommend checking the slides before displaying them, as fonts or layouts can occasionally shift between apps.
Can I use Oracy Spark on an interactive whiteboard?
Yes. Display your Sparks on a classroom screen or interactive whiteboard and use them to guide a short discussion. They can also be displayed on a laptop or tablet for small groups, tutoring or use at home.
Do I need to plan anything?
No. The prompts and sentence starters are ready to use. Open the Spark, display it and start the conversation. If you want something linked to a particular topic or lesson, you can create your own using the Spark Generator.

Can Teaching Assistants use Oracy Spark?
Yes. School memberships can be used by Teaching Assistants and other staff working with pupils within the phases included in your plan. TAs can open the weekly Sparks on another device for small-group work or use the Spark Generator to create additional discussion prompts and sentence starters for their groups.
What happens if I buy an individual membership and my school later joins?
If your school purchases an Oracy Spark school membership within 30 days of your first individual purchase, we'll refund what you've paid for your individual membership, up to £29.
Simply contact us with your purchase details and we'll arrange the refund.
